Alzafar Shrine is pleased to invite all Master Masons to attend this year’s Masonic Picnic and Chili Cook-Off scheduled for all day Saturday, October 13th at Camp Alzafar just 10 minutes outside Boerne, Texas on The Guadalupe River.
The day will begin with an outdoor and strictly tiled Masonic Degree under the auspices of Kendall Lodge # 897 at 7:30 am. This year the degree will be an extraordinary event as Alzafar will once again present at our sole expense the Oklahoma Native American Degree Team to perform and confer a Master Mason Degree in full Native American Regalia.
At 10:00 am our fun filled day of family fun begins with the contestants preparing their very best chili recipes. Lunch is served free starting at 11:30 am with drink and adult beverages available all afternoon and evening.
The afternoon will have the public sampling of the best chili in Masonry. After the sampling and the judging everyone is invited to the pavilion for the awards presentation, our Potentate’s happy hour event, followed by a free country dinner, and music to dance the night away. It is a whole day of family fun. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the facilities of Camp Alzafar; its swimming pool, fishing, or tubing over ½ mile of the Guadalupe River. Our 320 acres offer the adventurous guest the exploration for the remnants of the Pleistocene epoch period 12,000 years ago when Native Americans first established their campgrounds. You might also come across dinosaur tracks, that remain on site from the Cretaceous period 100 million years ago when Camp was an inland ocean reef.
